24/7 specialist recovery for all electric vehicles — Tesla, Nissan Leaf, BMW i-Series, Ford E-Transit, and every other BEV, PHEV, and electric van. Flatbed transport always. No flat-towing. No compromises.
Electric vehicles cannot be recovered the same way as petrol or diesel cars. High-voltage battery systems, regenerative braking, and drivetrain architecture mean that incorrect recovery can cause serious — and expensive — damage. Black Eagle Recovery operators are trained in EV-specific recovery protocols.
Towing an EV with wheels on the ground can destroy the electric motor. We always use flatbed transport with all four wheels off the ground.
Our operators carry appropriate PPE and isolation equipment for high-voltage systems. Accident recovery follows strict HV safety protocols.
Flatbed transport preserves battery integrity and avoids the risk of further damage from incorrect towing angles or drivetrain stress.
Recovery for all battery electric cars — Tesla Model 3/S/X/Y, Nissan Leaf, BMW i3/i4, Hyundai Ioniq, Kia EV6, Volkswagen ID.3/ID.4, Renault Zoe, and all other BEVs. Flatbed transport to preserve battery integrity.
Recovery for electric vans including Ford E-Transit, Mercedes eSprinter, Vauxhall Vivaro-e, Renault Master E-Tech, Peugeot e-Expert, and all other electric LCVs. Critical for tradespeople and last-mile delivery operators.
Recovery for plug-in hybrid vehicles including Toyota Prius PHEV, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, BMW 330e, Volvo XC60 T8, and all other PHEVs. We handle both the electric and combustion elements.
Recovery for mild hybrid vehicles. While MHEVs can often be towed conventionally, our operators are trained to identify the correct recovery method for each vehicle to avoid drivetrain damage.
Recovery for electric HGVs and commercial vehicles including Volta Zero, Tevva trucks, and electric refuse vehicles. Specialist operators with appropriate equipment for heavy electric vehicles.
Recovery transport for e-bikes and e-scooters where required. We can arrange collection and transport to a repair facility or your home address.
Every EV breakdown is different. Here is how we handle the most common situations.
We transport your vehicle to the nearest compatible rapid charger or your home/workplace. We do not attempt to charge on the roadside — flatbed transport is always the safest option for a depleted EV.
If your EV will not charge or shows a charging system warning, we transport it to an authorised dealer or specialist EV repair centre. We can advise on the nearest facility for your vehicle make.
A traction battery warning requires specialist diagnosis. We transport the vehicle safely on a flatbed to avoid any risk of further damage to the high-voltage system.
EV accident recovery requires additional care due to the high-voltage battery system. Our operators are trained in EV accident recovery protocols and carry the appropriate PPE and isolation equipment.
In the event of a battery thermal event, call 999 immediately. Once the vehicle is declared safe by the fire service, we can arrange specialist transport and storage. Do not attempt to move the vehicle yourself.
Some EVs can become immobilised by software faults. We transport the vehicle to a dealer or specialist who can perform the necessary diagnostics and software reset.

In-depth guides from our advice centre
Electric vehicles introduce a new category of breakdown. Unlike petrol cars, a flat EV battery cannot be topped up at the roadside — flatbed recovery is required. This guide explains what happens, why EVs can't be towed conventionally, smart motorway guidance, and how to prevent range depletion.
Running out of fuel on the motorway is one of the most common and most avoidable breakdowns in the UK. This step-by-step guide covers warning signs, how to reach the hard shoulder safely, smart motorway ERA guidance, calling for help, and whether you need fuel delivery or full recovery.
A motorway breakdown is one of the most dangerous situations a driver can face. This guide explains exactly what to do — and what not to do — if you break down on a UK motorway or smart motorway.
